ABSTRACT
Each Poster Day presenter is required to submit an abstract of their project for inclusion in the Poster Day program. You may use the 120-word APA abstract from your Thesis document or elaborate up to the 250-word limit. Abstracts should be e-mailed to Kevin Ford (address below) . Please include:
1. Poster Title
2. Name
3. Name of research supervisor
4. Abstract
5. Presentation Info - provide a notation whether the poster has or will be presented at another conference.

POSTER DAY PRESENTATION
All Psychology and Neuroscience students completing PY 451 Final Project must create a poster and present this poster at Psychology and Neuroscience Poster Day.
Poster Format. Partcipants may choose to display traditional (multiple sheets) posters or single-sheet posters. Those interested in a single-sheet (large format) poster, must attend an information session on the construction of this type of poster during Block 7. Either poster format must fit a 3' x 4' area. Contact Kevin Ford for information.
There are several examples of single-sheet and multi-sheet posters in the Thesis Suite (tutt Science Rm. 311) and examples of single-sheet posters in the 3rd floor hallway of Tutt Science. For poster design templates, poster creation guides, and how to prepare for a poster presentation, see the Poster Design Resources. below.
Poster Display. There will be a few alternatives for the display of posters:
1. Easels and cork boards
2. Trifold (free-standing) cardboard display boards on tables
3. If necessary, a wall.
Students designing a multi-sheet (traditional) poster, will be provided a trifold display board, if one is necessary. Like the single-sheet posters, multi-sheet materials may be pinned directly to the provided corkboards during the set-up period for your poster session.
Poster Sessions. In years where two sessions are scheduled, participants will be contacted prior to Poster Day to best schedule participation. Course labs, athletic practice, and/or work schedules will be acceptable reasons to request participation in a particular session. When single-session presentations are scheduled, all participants must be present for the display period.
Poster Set-up. Psych/Neuro Poster Day is held in Skilling Commons Atrium and the connecting second floor of the Tutt Science Building. You should arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your session to set up your poster. Locate a Psi Chi member or the position map, if available, for your poster location. Pushpins will be provided. If special display accomodations are required (e.g., laptop computer, table, etc), you must submit these one week in advance. Contact Kevin Ford for information.
Presentation. Each student should prepare a presentation to be delivered in professional dress in a poster format. Student researchers will stand beside their poster and describe and explain their study to and respond to questions from poster session attendees. Prepare a 3-5 minute verbal summary of your project and be prepared for questions.
Event Schedule. Poster Day is scheduled for the second Friday of Block 8. There may be one or two poster sessions, depending on the number of participants. The typical single- and double-session schedules are below. Contact Kevin Ford for schedule information.

POSTER DESIGN RECOURCES
As mentioned above, posters may be designed in a traditional (multi-sheet) format or large poster (single-sheet) format (contact Kevin Ford for information). The templates below are over-size PowerPoint slides. A copy of the APA publication, "Displaying Your Findings: A Practical Guide for Creating Figures, Posters, and Presentations" (Nicol & Pexman, 2003), is located in Tutt Science 318A.
Work closely with your research supervisor or course professor when distilling your Thesis paper or project content for poster display.
Colorado College Logos
If you wish to insert a Colorado College logo in the title field of your poster, a choice of logos is available here ( http://www.coloradocollege.edu/logos/ ).
Single-Sheet Poster Templates:
- The Poster Preparation Tip Sheet (Word doc) offers a summary of poster design suggestions.
- PSYCH DEPT. POSTER DAY templates designed for 3' x 4' single-sheet presentations are available in a 3-column or 4-column format. These templates are oversized PowerPoint slides. You must attend an information session for instructions to use the templates and request a single-sheet poster.
- COLORADO SPRINGS UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH FORUM CSURF: http://www.uccs.edu/~csurf/index.htm) participants the 3-or 4-column template links above for Psych/Neuro Poster Day (size limits are the same).
- WEST COAST BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH CONFERENCE attendees select from a 3-column and 4-column template appropriate for that conference (40" x 40" size requirement).
- PY202 RESEARCH DESIGN (or other class poster projects) will use a slightly smaller MiniPoster (3' x 3') template in 3-column or 4-column designs.
The Psychology department will print a single copy of the single-sheet poster at no cost to the student. A subsequent print of the same poster to reflect poster modifications (e.g. for correction of errors or color changes) will result in a fee.
Multi-Sheet Poster Materials:
Poster-making materials for multi-sheet posters are available in the Thesis Suite Rm. 311. There are a few 3' x 4' trifold cardboard mounting boards in 311 as an aid to visualize your display space and fit the elements of your poster to the display area. Again, multi-sheet displays may be mounted directly to the corkboards provided on Poster Day and are not required to be "pre-mounted" on trifold display boards.
Web Guides:
Please be aware that some of the design information below, while instructive, is more general in nature (especially the Writing Center at CSU). Tailor your information search to guidelines and suggestions appropriate to a scientific poster presentation consistent with APA format.
