Visiting Artists
Our Visiting Artist-in-Residence Program brings distinguished, internationally known performers to campus. In addition to presenting a formal concert for the CC community at no charge, these renowned musicians offer informal lectures and demonstrations, master classes, and personal coaching in their individual instruments and art forms. Our students benefit from personalized training with superb musicians.
Imagine learning from artists such as cellist Janos Starker, flutist Marina Piccinini, tenor William Brown; composers George Crumb, Masaru Kawasaki, Frederic Rzewski and Joan Tower; ethnomusicologist Bruno Nettl; England's most renowned early music ensemble, the Tallis Scholars; oboist Joseph Robinson; and performance artist Holly Near.
During the 2007-08 year, we will have a visiting Ensemble-in-Residence. The Irish group, Colcannon worked with the MU104 World Music class for three days and gave a performance in Packard Hall on October 2, 2007. In addtion, the five-member group will provide workshops throughout the year. Sessions are scheduled for November 13, December 11, 2007 and February 5, March 4, April 8, and May 6, 2008.
