Michael Grace has been a member of the Colorado College faculty since 1967. He is currently Professor of Music. In addition to his faculty appointment, he has served Colorado College as Acting President, chair of the music department, and as Dean of the Summer Session. He is also Director of the Collegium Musicum. He has performed with the Collegium Musicum as an instrumentalist since its inception and has also concertized in other venues in Colorado Springs and the Rocky Mountain region. Under his direction, the Collegium Vocal Ensemble has toured internationally in recent years to Austria, China, the Czech Republic, Germany and Italy. As a music historian, his research has included investigations in the 17th-century oratorio, performance practices in the Renaissance and, most recently, the relationship between piano music and painting. He has toured with his wife, concert pianist Susan Grace; together, they present lecture/concerts of piano music inspired by visual art works. His teaching has focused on music history courses for the music majors, as well as topics courses on Mozart, American Music, Twentieth-Century Music and interdisciplinary courses in Renaissance Culture and the history of art and music.
