Choral Programs at Colorado College

CC ChoirThe Colorado College Choir, composed of students, faculty, staff and members of the community, presents two concerts each year with orchestra in Shove Chapel.

The Choir’s goals are the study and then the polished performance of works from the great choral/orchestral literature, as well as occasional unaccompanied works, and representing as wide an historical range as possible.

Rehearsals are Tuesday afternoons from 4:00-5:30 p.m. in room 130 of the Cornerstone Arts Center.  In each concert week, additional rehearsals with orchestra are called from 7:30-10:00 p.m.

Everyone is welcome and no audition is required.  Join by attending a rehearsal.  Membership closes on the first Tuesday of Blocks II and VI.  For more information, contact Deborah Teske. dteske@coloradocollege.edu or 227-8129.

The Colorado College Chamber Chorus is a 16-24 voice select ensemble performing music from all historical time periods, and covering a wide range of styles, including Renaissance, baroque, classical, contemporary, music of world folk traditions, spirituals, and more.   The chorus performs a cappella and with instrumental accompaniment, depending upon the demands of the repertoire.

The Chamber Chorus presents two concerts each year.  Additional performance opportunities are available as scheduling allows.

Membership in this ensemble is by audition only.

Deborah Jenkins TeskeDeborah Jenkins Teske is Director of Choirs at Colorado College, where she conducts the Colorado College Choir and Chamber Chorus and teaches conducting. She is founder and artistic director of the Colorado Vocal Arts Ensemble, a chamber choir of 24 auditioned voices with a national reputation for excellence in performance and educational outreach. Founded in 1992, the Ensemble has performed extensively throughout the state of Colorado and recently ventured into new territory with a seven-day tour of Southern California.  As a featured performer at the 2002 Chorus America conference in Denver, CVAE was honored to represent Colorado Springs to the entire North American choral music community.  Dedicated to educational outreach and sharing the choral art with young singers, CVAE’s highly successful residency program, Gateways, mentors secondary choral programs throughout the area. In 2007, Ms. Teske served as guest conductor for the Colorado Springs District 11 High School Honor Choir.  Her opera and musical theater credits include guest conductor with the Colorado Opera Festival for productions of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Mozart’s The Magic Flute , Britten’s The Turn of the Screw and Handel’s Semele.  She currently serves regularly as Chorus Master for Opera Theater of the Rockies. Ms. Teske holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Pomona College and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Colorado at Boulder.  She and her husband Todd live in Monument with their two children, Miranda and Adam.
