Hyper-History:   an information-packed site with a good chronological table which relates events in globally.

Project Gutenberg: a large number of electronic texts, both books and articles.

Michigan Electronic Library:   includes history on a particular day, visual resources, documents, information on historians and philosophers.

History Index:  a number of gateways to countries and to different topics.

History:  particularly strong collection of resources on Great Britain.

EuroDocs:  original texts and documents.

Voice of the Shuttle:  major site full of links to other sites--oranized primarily by countries.

Horus History Links:  many, many links organized geographically and chronologically.

Gateway to World History:  links to documents, images, and sites.

WebMuseum:  The WebMuseum, a wonderful collection of paintings from a wide range of artists, time periods, and places.  Good explanations of a number of paintings.

Mark Harden's Artchive: Art Resources Links:  Many paintings, easily accessible.  The WebMuseum and this collection complement each other well.

Lycos Pictures and Sounds:  Quite a few interesting historical images--paintings, caricatures, photos.

Web Gallery of Art:   Many images of paintings and sculpture from 1200-1700, often with biographies and analyses.

Paris Pages Musee d'Orsay Collection Paintings:  Mostly Impressionist paintings from their very rich collection.

Photo Archives Data:  the collection gathered by the U.S. Holocaust Museum, including photos from World War I to the 1950s..

Middle Ages: Illuminated Manuscripts:  a number of links to important manuscripts including the Magna Carta

Netserf:  rich site with numerous links on a range of interesting subjects.

Medieval and Renaissance History:  includes some sources on ancient history as well as key sites for the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, organized by general site and by more specific subject.

Crusades:   links to texts of the chroniclers and to further information.

Labyrinth:   includes resources on special topics, on countries, as well as articles.
