Welcome to the Colorado College English Department, located in Armstrong Hall, and overlooking the college quad. Our faculty shares a wide variety of specializations and interests. We have three poets, a novelist, a professional stage director, a filmmaker, faculty who are interested in popular culture—science fiction, visual culture and graphic novels—and film —film noir, American film comedy, the Western, melodrama—as well as scholars in the traditional departmental disciplines. We often take our students up to the Baca Grande in the San Luis Valley to explore our literary lives in a natural and beautiful setting. In the English department lounge, students and faculty gather in groups to discuss their courses, new books they have read, films they have seen; or they simply grab snacks or coffee and chat about the arts in general. Our students come from all over the country and abroad and have fascinatingly different life histories that they bring to bear upon their classroom experiences.
