The Department of Education at Colorado College prepares students to teach elementary education and eleven content areas in secondary education (Art, English, French, German, Japanese, Latin, Math, Music, Science, Social Studies, and Spanish). To become a licensed teacher, a student who possess a Bachelors Degree can complete a 9th Semester Student Teaching or apply to the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) program which is featured in a fourteen-month (summer-academic year-summer) format.

School districts actively pursue our graduates because of their real world, hands-on educational experiences. Graduates are eligible for licensure or certification in 45 states and qualify for 5 others. Not only are our graduates located nationwide, but they are also teaching in various countries in South America, Africa, Asia and Europe.

Our personal attention extends to the job hunting arena where we assist you with writing resumes, processing paperwork, networking and interviewing techniques, creating a portfolio, and individual counseling. In 2004-05, 97% of teacher education graduates who were actively pursuing teaching positions were hired within three months of graduation.

The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools accredits Colorado College. The Colorado Commission on Higher Education and the Colorado State Board of Education approve its teacher education programs.
