Student teaching is a very important part of the Teacher Education Program at Colorado College. It is essential, therefore, that excellent communication be fostered among the individuals who are most directly concerned with the experience -- the student teacher, the cooperating teacher(s), the principal, and the Colorado College supervisor.

Prior to the beginning of student teaching, an orientation session brings together school principals, cooperating teachers, student teachers, and Colorado College supervisors to clarify procedures and expectations for the student teaching experience. To support communication, a student teaching handbook serves as a guide for the orientation session to acquaint all parties with:

Objectives and elements of the student teaching program Specific information for student teachers, cooperating teachers, and college supervisors Legal responsibilities of the school placement Evaluation of student teachers
