Assistant Professor Tenure-Track Position in Macroeconomics

JEL Classification E0 Macroeconomics and Monetary Economics

The Economics and Business Department at Colorado College, a highly selective liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 1,900 students, seeks to fill a tenure-track position in macroeconomics at the assistant professor level starting August 2008.  The successful candidate will be a macroeconomist who will teach courses such as Principles of Macroeconomics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, Advanced Macroeconomics, Money and Banking, or Growth.  The desire and ability to teach international economics courses or economic systems will be a plus.  The department hopes that the position will be filled by a candidate with the ability to contribute to vibrant interdisciplinary programs in International Political Economy or Mathematical Economics.  Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in economics or expect to finish their degree by August 2008.

Colorado College is distinctive for its modular “Block Plan” calendar.  The academic year is divided into eight 3½ week blocks.  During each block, students take and faculty teach one course at a time, with a maximum enrollment of 25 students per class.  The college’s unique academic calendar supports experiential learning opportunities such as field trips and service learning, and lends itself to other innovative teaching and learning pedagogies.  Student assistance is available to support teaching and research, and the college generously funds faculty scholarship.  Resources for faculty research and travel are commensurate with those of a leading liberal arts college.

The college is located in the heart of Colorado Springs, a beautiful, dynamic city located at the foot of Pikes Peak.  Colorado Springs routinely appears on lists of “the best places to live,” and the city and its surrounding region offer excellent schools, a diversified economy, unparalleled recreational opportunities, and an outstanding climate.
