Site 1088

      Site 1088 contains an impressive collection of twelve barrel-shaped shrines that provide an overview of virtually the entire western San Juan Basin. There are almost 60 outliers known to reside in this area, many of which are known to have accompanying shrines. This suggests that Site 1088 and the western outliers shared intervisibility with one another (Van Dyke 2008:131). The viewshed map below depicts the amount of Chacoan outlers that can be found to the west to illustrate the scale of the proposed line-of-sight network.
