| [Kellam] Rather large thunderstorm last night. Katie and I sat up and watched to lighting over the Mesa. Thunder got loud around 12:30 am, heavy rain began around 3:00 am. We all felt pretty exposed camping on the ridge top. Couldn't get any sleep for the noise of the rain, hail, and thunder. My tent is dry, but other folks leaked. Still raining at 6:30 am-we didn't go to the site today, too wet. Road was washed out anyway. 4 in. of hail on Mesa Verde, 5-6 between Durango and Cortez. Mtns. got first bit of snow I've seen. McElmo canyon evacuated for flood warning. Finished revising LT 4 [5MT 17273] this morning and got started on LT 5. Need to create a style sheet, but I am too tired today. Got some good fiddling in. Sunset was gorgeous on trip back from Cortez-large purple and pink clouds over Mesa Verde and Ute Mtn. |
