Today was sunny and cold, w/ snow on the mountains. Ruth, Tucker, Trevor, Kellam and I went out to the site to explore and have fun. Ruth met w/ the BLM archaeologist to give her a site tour. Trevor, Kellam and I went to 5MT 1693 to retake our photos (disk error). Tucker went to Tarantula Pueblo [5MT 17275] and the tower [5MT 1691] to check for line of site (positive) and then came and joined us to GPS the site. He then headed off to Birthday Pueblo for more line of site tests.

Kellam and I headed up the drainage on the southern edge of our survey area-up to the cottonwood. We explored the area, looking for sites. We found a kiln on the west side, approx 10m east of the top of the ridge on the eastern side of the drainage. It's approximately level (south-wise) w/ where the road and drainage intersect. We also found another small pueblo w/ 2-3 rooms nestled against an alcove w/ a kiva in a plaza retaining wall. There was no standing above ground masonry except for a few stacked rocks on a boulder on the eastern edge. It's located ~60m south of our site boundary where the eastern boundary goes through a clearing of gravel not too far from the SE corner. There was no evidence of any vandalism.

Trevor went in search of rock art on another mesa top. We all then met up @ Lightning Tree Tower and then headed up to Cougar Cub where Trevor found some more rock art, some hand prints on the roof of a very small alcove, only 1 m high that were really well preserved.

On our way home we stopped by the Navajo site, corral and houses, as well as a small PII pueblo that has been heavily visited. Then we headed home.
