COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Other assignments are included in a photocopied book of readings.

 

Class will be held from 9:30 to approximately 12:00. There are several afternoon classes noted on the syllabus. There will be a take-home final due the last day of the block. Note that this is the day before Thanksgiving.

Requirements
: There will be a visual analysis exercise, several reading responses, a short paper on an aspect of early Islamic art, a research paper or project of your choice, which you will present to the class, and a final exam.

Grading: All course requirements must be completed in order to pass the course. In determining the course grade, I shall weigh the elements of the class approximately as follows: Short papers 25%, Project 40%, Final 25%, class participation, 10%.

Readings: Readings in the texts are listed on the schedule. Reading should be done before the class period for which it is assigned.

Visual Material: The images that we see in class will be available on the Colorado College Art Department Image Database, available online on the campus network. Class will be held from 9:30 to approximately 12:00. There are several afternoon classes noted on the syllabus.

Final: There will be a take-home final due the last day of the block. Note that this is the day before Thanksgiving.
