In September 2006, CC hosted a public charrette process sponsored by Imagine Downtown, the Downtown Partnership and the City of Colorado Springs, and conducted by the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
Members of the public were invited to engage with architects, planners, merchants, and local politicians in a thoughtful and wide-ranging discussion of growth, accessibility and design in downtown Colorado Springs. This was a chance for citizens and designers to work together to form a shared vision of what our downtown should look like in the years to come. Architects from AIA of Southern Colorado volunteered countless hours to conduct the charrette and to turn around drawings to the participants each day and make sure the ideas generated were being represented faithfully. Colorado College is an active member of Imagine Downtown and we remain committed to maintaining a great cultural and business center that all our residents and visitors can enjoy.
