Theta Alumnae
A letter from the President
Summer 2007

Dear Beta Omega Alumnae,

My name is Meghan Quinn and I am the President of the Beta Omega chapter at Colorado College. I am currently in my junior year as a Political Science major and Spanish minor. I have spent the last two summers studying abroad in Salamanca, Spain and am hoping that this coming summer will be as rewarding as the last. We have had a very eventful year which started off with a successful recruitment. We initiated 11 new members in the fall, and 2 more women have joined this spring semester. They have all added such flair and energy to our house. Shortly after fall recruitment, we held our first formal of the year, KATastrophe, which was a great bonding experience. We also participated in a carnival and kickball tournament which benefited Empty Stocking Fund. Our kickball team had a wonderful time despite losing, and the proceeds from our bake sale exceeded all other booths at the carnival.

Our spring semester started out with a strong foot forward with the installation of the 8 new leaders of the house. The new executive committee took their positions following our attendance at the District Leadership Conference in Omaha, Nebraska. Our new committee includes Melissa Weinrobe (VP Administration), Rhyan Kronzer (VP Public Relations), Jena Polk (VP Finance), Blair Daverman (VP Education), Kirsten Ostergaard (VP Development), Mary O’Donnell (VP Membership), Jill Bennett (VP Panhellenic), and myself for President. Everybody is doing a fantastic job in their new positions! Our Advisory Board Chairman Anne Brown is happy to report that we have become a self-sustaining chapter after only two months.

We continue to do well both scholastically and philanthropically. Our house currently has the highest Greek GPA as our house average is a 3.36. Kicks for C.A.S.A., our largest annual philanthropy event, was a huge accomplishment this year as we raised nearly $3000 and were awarded Best Philanthropy at the Greek Awards! Participation continues to grow every year, and with our hard work and commitment, we are hoping for an even larger donation next year. As always our members have been incredibly involved this year, participating in activities such as dance team and dance workshop, art shows, many different intramural and varsity sports teams, debate team, jazz band, Mortar Board senior honor society, research with professors, student council and class officers, and many different volunteer groups such as Volunteer Action. Two new members were accepted into the Order of Omega Greek honor society and one of our new members, Laura King, was awarded Greek New Member of the Year Award! Because of all of our hard work and commitment both within Theta and throughout the community, our chapter was also awarded Chapter Excellence Award at the Greek Awards ceremony!

Our chapter continues to excel in our scholastic, philanthropic, social and moral efforts as we continue to strive for these ideals. This can be seen in our many successes this year both as a group of women and as individuals. Our involvement as members of Kappa Alpha Theta continues to grow as does our involvement as members of the community. We feel so blessed to have such a great group of women representing Theta. It has been such a great year and the entire house is sad that it has gone by so quickly. We will by saying goodbye to fourteen amazing seniors, all of whom we are sure will go on to do remarkable things. The year is coming to an end, but we are looking forward to what the future brings. Fall recruitment will bring a new group of amazing women to uphold the strong ideals of Kappa Alpha Theta, and everyone at the Beta Omega Chapter cannot wait.

Loyally,
Meghan Quinn
Beta Omega President
