Outdoor Recreation

Committee:

Foot Trips

The FOOT Program is an annual wilderness adventure designed for first-year students. Sponsored by the Outdoor Recreation Committee (ORC) this program takes place during the first block break of the year. The trips are varied in skill level to accommodate the novice to the most experienced backpacker. Each year ORC takes nineteen trips, and over 200 first-year students participate in this unique adventure.

All ORC leaders have been trained as outdoor guides, and are certified in Wilderness First Aid and CPR. The trips are well thought out and planned in order to give participants the best possible wilderness experience, a chance to forge new friendships, and reflect on their first block at college.

Colorado College is “next door” to some of the most breathtaking scenery in the country, and these trips take full advantage of all that Colorado has to offer! This program has enjoyed tremendous success, and will provide first-year students with a memorable wilderness adventure.
