Colorado College Arts and Crafts Program

The Arts & Crafts Program encourages all members of the Colorado College community to participate in a variety of crafts courses and activities. Classes and workshops are offered in ceramics, fiber arts, and metals. With an active Arts & Crafts student committee, we sponsor the annual Arts & Crafts Sale featuring regional artists and craftsmen selling alongside Colorado College students.  We also sponsor the popular All Campus Art Show every spring.

The Fiber Studio features 17 floor looms at 4, 8, 12 and 16 harness capacities and a complete dye studio. Spinning equipment, knitting and basketry supplies, batik and silk painting, screen printing, felting and bookmaking classes are also available. The fiber studio is located on the lower level of Worner Campus Center.  Jeanne Steiner, Arts and Crafts Program Director and fiber instructor, has a B.F.A. from Colorado State University, holds a Colorado Teaching Certificate K-12 and has enjoyed teaching at Colorado College for over 24 years.

The Clay Studio is equipped with 6 wheels; 2 electric kilns; gas; raku and salt kilns; a slab roller; extruder; and a Soldner Clay Mixer. The clay studio is located on the lower level of Worner Campus Center.  Greg Marshall, clay instructor, has a B.A. in Art Education from Adams State College, and has been a professional potter for over 30 years.  He believes in allowing each student the freedom to explore and discover their own relationship with clay.

The Jewelry Studio offers a wide variety of hand tools, along with a rolling mill, 2 polishing machines, enameling kilns and silversmithing equipment. The jewelry studio is located on the lower level of Worner Campus Center. Brenda Houck, metal instructor, has a B.F.A. in Graphic Design from Kansas State University.
