Tutt Library on a beautiful day.

Tutt Library

During fourth week, when everyone seems to be cramming for a final, Student Activities and Library staff pass out snacks to keep spirits up, and the main atrium of the library fills with the hopeful murmurs of students making last-minute block break plans. The last two nights of the block, the library is open until 4 a.m.

The library has three floors of spacious tables, study rooms, and comfy couches that you can nestle into when studying for exams or writing papers.

Tutt Library offers 800,000+ volumes of print and e-books; 300 research databases for in-depth research in a wide variety of disciplines; and provides access to 120,000 full-text online journals as well as newspaper archives. Specialized materials are also available, including geological survey maps, rare books, the college archives, government publications and much more. Librarians at the Research Desk are available to assist you with finding the best scholarly sources for your assignments. If you're having trouble writing a paper, you can visit the Writing Center, where tutors will help you edit your work.

Although Tutt is a great place to go if you need a quiet, distraction-free study space, it's hard to feel too isolated there. The library was designed to have a large, central atrium, so from most tables you can see, and develop a sense of solidarity with, other students hard at work.
