Academic Background
Prior to coming to Colorado College in January, 2006, Peggy was at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She held the position of Multimedia Facilities Manager within the College of Education & Human Resources (CEHS). In that role she facilitated multimedia classrooms, conference rooms, and equipment as well as computer classrooms and mobile computer labs. As part of those duties, Peggy was the Coordinator for the Level 1 Technology Requirement, the first technology experience students were involved with during their academic careers in CEHS. In addition to her full-time position Peggy also taught courses in Instructional Technology, Career Software Technology, and Advanced Communications. Lastly, Peggy worked with methods students to assist them in using technology in the classroom, both as students and future teachers.
While at the University, Peggy obtained an undergraduate degree in Administrative Resource Management and a masters in Instructional Technology. She is currently working on a doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Instructional Technology.
Brief Biography
A native Nebraskan, Peggy served six years in the United States Air Force before returning to Nebraska to begin a 24-year career at the University. During those years she held four different positions in four different departments and finished two academic programs. She enjoys fishing, reading, nature walks, baseball (particularly the Chicago Cubs), and undertaking home improvement projects (with varying degrees of success!)
Selected Recent and Current Projects
Peggy's research interests involve using technology with diverse populations, specifically individuals who experience learning difficulties and Native American students.
Most recent and on-gong projects include
- Teaching off-site with Native American students. Over the past 5 years Peggy has taught a semester-long technology class to undergraduate Native American students either on the reservations of Nebraska or at
more mutually-accessible sites. Normally these classes are taught over a one-week timeframe making the uniquely interesting and challenging.
- Peggy was involved with the technical details and concerns that arose during the merger of two major Colleges within the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Teachers College and the College of Family and Consumer Resources.
