The
Colorado College Academic Technology Services team is the
branch of Information Technology Services that educates,
supports, inspires and collaborates with faculty and students
to integrate technology as a vital component of the teaching
and learning process. ATS believes that the right technology,
implemented in the right way, can revolutionize the way students
think, communicate, and view the individual parts of their
Colorado College education as a connected gateway into a lifetime
of informed learning and critical thinking.
The
ATS team experiments with and brings to faculty new and
exciting ways to engage students, and facilitates the use
of instructional technology through advocacy, project support
and technology assessment. ATS team members are technological
pioneers and systematic and timely project managers. We
act as the interface between the specialized technology
needs of faculty and students and the human and technology
resources that Information Technology Services provides.

Our Aims
In service to the College mission, we
promote and support technology integration in the curriculum
that increases active learning, refines critical thinking
and communication skills, and increases efficiency in teaching
and learning.
In the fulfillment of the Colorado College
promise to educate students for our time, we train and empower
faculty and students in their use of technology for teaching
and learning.
We develop, advocate for, and maintain
the College technology infrastructure that supports teaching
and learning.
We find, spark, develop and support instructional
technology projects at the course, department and college-wide
level.
We continuously examine and assess the
use of technology relative to its context, effectiveness,
and legal and ethical concerns.
We collaborate and communicate with other
academic support professionals on campus.
Our Guiding Principles
We value and prioritize humans
over machines. We promote the use of technology only when
the benefits for teaching and learning outweigh the costs.
We believe that, in providing information
about and access to technological resources, we improve
the learning process by opening up modes of inquiry not
possible without the use of technology.
We approach our mission with a
strong service ethic. |
