Course Information:
The Olympics will return to Greece this summer so come and celebrate the games of the XXVIII Olympiad as Professors Barry Sarchett (English) and Lisa B. Hughes (Classics and Comparative Literature) present:

"Chariots of Fire: Olympics Myths and Hollywood Endings"

We'll study mythical and historical readings, films, and slides to pose questions about the enduring fascination with Olympic competition. Love and beauty, life and death, identity and nationalism, the "thrill of victory and the agony of defeat": these are just some of the themes we'll explore.

Professors Hughes and Sarchett will be joined by Alumni Association Board member Ed Goldstein ’79 who will lead a discussion on the modern Olympics from a social/political perspective.
