Professor Emeritus William E. Barton '57

If asked to remember a favorite class, many quickly reply, "My favorite class was any class from Bill Barton." We hear it again and again from three decades of alumni. Bill has been a favorite of all who passed through the Business/Economics department.

An alumnus himself, class of 1957, and parent of two alumni, Bill has a special connection to his students and former students. Many alumni who have gone on to successful careers in business owe a great deal to the support and advice offered by their "favorite professor." And Bill has stayed in touch with many of his former students, following their careers and lives with interest. Even after retiring in 1998, Colorado College never seems to be completely out of Bill’s mind and heart.

As a member of the National Alumni Council, Bill brought a faculty perspective to the work of the alumni association and helped organize the annual volunteer training weekend.

Bill has also been helpful in the efforts to remind his former students of the importance of making their annual gifts to the college and served on his own class committee to raise financial support for the college during reunion years. Bill speaks to alumni groups whenever asked and brings alumni in to share their experiences and knowledge with current students.

As an alumnus and volunteer, Bill has made a lifetime commitment to the college he clearly loves so much.
