Barbara Neeley Yalich '53
It could be said that Barbara needs no introduction. Her long-standing
association with the College is rich and full. She has served a variety
of positions, including Alumni Trustee (1970-73), Director of Alumni Support
(1973-75), Director of Alumni Affairs (1975-85), Director of Development
(1985-91) and Vice President for Development and College Relations (1991-95).
During her 25 years at the College, Barbara helped to reorganize and revitalize
the National Alumni Council, initiate reunion giving, and establish the
Alumni Honorary Degree and the Alumni Award programs. As Director of Development,
she provided the general management of the 1984-89 capital campaign. In
addition, by virtue of her community involvement, she has helped build
a strong College image in Colorado Springs.
On campus, she was considered a good administrator, seeking excellence
from those around her and, in turn, giving nothing less. Her involvement
benefited colorado College by helping the school maintain its traditions
and by contributing to its financial stability. Barbara has consistently
demonstrated her effectiveness as a persuasive representative for the
College.
Few people care more about Colorado College, its programs, its students
and alumni, and its mission than Barbara. We are proud to recognize her
dedication with the Riley Award.
