Margaret Killian Reid '31
Quietly and unassumingly, Margaret Killian Reid has contributed to our
institution in countless ways throughout her adult life. As the wife of
CC legend J. Juan Reid, she was half of a partnership that figures prominently
in the history of Colorado College.
Throughout the years, she has given hours of her time to the College.
She chaired the Faculty Wives' Club (later Faculty Club) in President
Gill's day, served on the board of the Woman's Educational Society and
as an officer of the Fifty Year Club, and still participates in the Friends
of the Library. Margaret provided unfailing support for her husband in
his numerous College duties, as well as a home away from home for many
CC students. She now continues her involvement, attending many lectures,
concerts and other functions at the College.
Her family itself comprises a sizable alumni body. Two brothers and three
sisters, her three children (Judith Reid Finley '58, Robert Alan Reid
'59, and John Jay Reid '63), and two of her granddaughters (Karen Killian
Finley '87 and Laura Margaret Finley '89) attended CC. These legacies
have also greatly enriched the College.
Through her steady support, her faithful spirit, and her generous financial
assistance, Margaret Killian Reid has helped CC beyond measure. The College
is enormously fortunate that Margaret Killian Reid is part of its family.
