Applying to Colorado College

We are pleased to learn that you are taking the first step toward completing the transfer application for admission to Colorado College. Any student with a full-time status for one semester or more should apply as a transfer student. This is true even if you do not request the transfer of credit from your previous institution.

The instructions and guidelines found in the following pages will help you create a personalized profile of your many special talents and proud accomplishments. Please take time to read the entire list of instructions for completing Form 1, the Common Application, and the Supplement to the Common Application. We encourage you to complete and return Form 1 as soon as possible so we may begin an application file for you. This first step should take less than ten minutes. You may submit your fee (or fee waiver) with the Common Application or the Supplement.

Since the application is at times the only chance we will have to hear from you directly, treat the essays as a conversation between yourself and our admission staff. The Admission Committee and, on occasion, faculty members, students, and other trained readers will take great pleasure in reading these essays. More importantly, we value the insight we gain from your personal statements since it's this meaningful information that enables us to distinguish you from the several hundred applications we will receive this year.

Please note that the financial aid application is a separate form and we have included a section of information as well as instructions for completing this process. If you will be seeking financial assistance, it's important that you meet each deadline. Our admission staff is ready and willing to assist you and your family in whatever way we can. Don't hesitate to call or to write for assistance in completing our admission and financial aid forms.

Approximately five to ten percent of each year's new students have transferred to Colorado College from other schools. We strongly discourage non-U.S. citizens needing financial aid from applying as transfer students, as there are very limited funds. The transfer admission process, like the first-year admission process, takes into consideration many factors. Academic transfer credit is usually given for liberal arts and sciences courses completed at another accredited institution with a grade of C or better.
