Mark J. Hatch |
With his long career as both an admission professional and a college counselor, Mark is the fearless hockey-playing leader of CC’s admission and financial aid staff. Prior to joining CC in 2001, Mark earned a B.A. in psychology from Bates College an Ed.M. from Harvard University. After working as an assistant dean of admission at Bates, Mark moved west and served as a college counselor and teacher at Harvard-Westlake School and Marlborough School in Los Angeles and then Director of Admission at Occidental College. |

Roberto A. Garcia |
A first-generation college student, Roberto was born in south Texas and went on to graduate from Princeton University with a degree in sociology and obtained an Ed.M. from Harvard University. Before returning to Princeton to begin a career in admission, he served as an officer in the Marine Corps for five years. Today, he coordinates the overall operations of the admission office and keeps us updated with the previous evening’s Colorado Rockies performance. Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island |

Emily Anding '12 |
Emily calls Illinois' plains, Mississippi's creeks, and the English moors all home but decided to blaze westward after initially attending University of St. Andrews in Scotland. She transferred to CC her sophomore year and graduated in 2012 with a degree in environmental policy, while spending as much time as she could rock climbing. If not tied into a rope, Emily was busy producing films, working at the CC Gear House, and hiking with her dog. Before Admission Counseling, Emily guided outdoor excursions and to this day prides herself in making the world’s best granola. She manages special group visits, assists with transfer student admission, and produces film communications. Matt Bonser '98 |
Matt spent his early years in southern California, but he claims to have grown up in Portland, Oregon, where he attended the Catlin Gabel School. A graduate of CC with a degree in political science and Spanish, he has been on the admission staff since 1998. Matt serves as systems manager for our database, but still finds plenty of time to get out from behind a computer screen to coordinate international recruitment and camp and hike with his family. Leah Fugere '12 |
A native of where the Rocky Mountains meet the desert, Leah grew up in Grand Junction, CO. She graduated from Colorado College in 2012 with a major in Political Science and a minor in Resource Systems of the American West. True to her liberal arts education, Leah spent the last year working in two very different fields--in Birmingham, Al. for an AmeriCorps program combating poverty through financial, educational, and health initiatives and, more recently, working in ecological research as a field technician in Northern Colorado. Leah loves Ultimate Frisbee, botany, throwing pottery on the wheel, exploring/traveling, and frequenting small town music and food festivals. Anna Jaquez-Herron ‘01 |
After growing up in Pueblo, CO, Anna earned her degree in biology while working in the CC financial aid office as a student. She now divides her time between admission and financial aid, counseling students, and overseeing several of our outreach and scholarship programs. Monica Jones |
Born in Austin, Texas and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Monica Sian Jones joins the admissions staff after four and a half years studying and teaching in South Korea. Monica graduated from California Lutheran University, with a double major in international studies and music and went on to complete a Master of Music from the Australian National University and graduate research, in international Korean studies, at the Academy of Korean Studies. She can easily be found either watching Korean dramas or Bollywood movies and often brags about her encyclopedic knowledge of K-pop. Monica coordinates online interviews and assists with American ethnic minority recruitment. Amy Lareau |
A Westborough, Massachusetts native, Amy received a bachelor's degree in anthropology from Bates College where she participated in a cappella and theater, taught English as a second language and worked in the Bates admission office. After a year of admission counseling at Paul Smith's College, Amy joined the CC admission team in the summer of 2010. Whether singing about the hills being alive, or hiking through them, Amy enjoys the west and supports admission efforts by coordinating the merit scholarship program, multicultural open house, student interns, and assisting with communications. David Pellett '12 |
Hailing from St. Louis, MO, David graduated from Colorado College in 2012 with a degree in international political economy. During his time as an undergraduate, he spent a semester abroad in Barcelona, studied the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor in Costa Rica, and participated in drama and dance. From tour guide, to admission fellow, to admission counselor, David has earned his way up in the admission office and now oversees the tour guide program, overnight hosting, and assists with merit scholarships. Sara Springer Purviance ’04 |
After attending Sabino High School in Tucson, AZ, Sara graduated from CC in 2004 with a degree in English. While a student, she studied abroad in Italy and participated in Kappa Alpha Theta and dance. She went on to complete a Master's degree in higher education at the University of Denver, and worked in corporate event planning and in the Hampshire College admission office before rejoining CC in 2010. After surviving monkey attacks in Bali and her recent introduction to skiing, Sara supports admission operations by managing our communications and alumni volunteer programs. Ali Springer '07 |
After living in Georgia, Washington, and Arizona, Ali attended CC where she worked as an admission intern, and studied sociology and educational studies. Her passion for education led Ali to a position in admission at Francis W. Parker School in Chicago followed by graduate studies at the University of Denver, where she earned a Master's degree in higher education and college student development. Ali coordinates our alumni volunteer network, counselor visit programs, and serves as our faculty liaison. Mariegrace Veres ’11 |
Born in the Phillippines and raised in Colorado Springs, Mariegrace followed her older sister and brothers' footsteps and graduated from Colorado College in 2011 with a B.A. in international political economy and a minor in journalism. During her time at CC, she studied abroad in Italy, the Netherlands, Canada, and Chile and worked on campus as a Resident Adviser, Student Center Manager, and interned at a local News Station. Mariegrace has a strong love for community, and when she’s not volunteering in Chicago, New Orleans, or eating delicious food at a Filipino Heritage Camp, Mariegrace serves as liaison to Summer Session, coordinates the Peak to Peak counselor visit, and assists with Bridge and fly-in programs. Ashleigh Willis ‘11 |
Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Ashleigh dropped her natural accent for an American one when she relocated to Atlanta in 1999. Soon after, she moved to Colorado Springs with her family, where she attended Cheyenne Mountain High School. Ashleigh graduated from Colorado College in 2011 with a degree in English after studying abroad in Greece, learning virtually everyone’s name at the college, and breaking an all-time campus record for ownership of the most pairs of high-heeled shoes. With flair, Ashleigh coordinates alumni volunteers and spring open house, and assists with communications and technology.
