"You can walk around campus and people are talking, challenging one another. For a teacher, the great event in a classroom is to see another mind come alive. And it happens here every single day... The kind of students who come here and flourish are students who are experience-hungry. They want to experience everything - the mountains, the air, and, most of all, ideas." - John Riker, professor of philosophy

A Beautiful Backdrop

Colorado Springs, the Rocky Mountains, and the desert Southwest provide a spectacular backdrop for our campus. In classes and extracurricular activities, Colorado College students become intimately involved in their environment. Students analyze geological formations in the Grand Canyon, research cultural anthropology in Anasazi ruins, and discuss religion in the quiet of the CC cabin. So while Colorado Springs can offer the cultural enrichment of an urban area, it is also worth noting that it is the largest American city bordering a national forest.

Culture at CC

Being in a metropolitan area, our students have access to all the events and venues that Colorado Springs and her neighbor cities can offer. In Colorado Springs, students are walking distance from an enormous variety of cultural events. The 2,000-seat Pikes Peak Center hosts more than 200 performances annually, including Broadway musicals, popular recording artists, and music and dance performances of all kinds. Collections of 20th century and Native American and Hispanic art are on display at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. The city also has a philharmonic orchestra, a 100-voice chorale, an annual opera festival, a dance theater that presents nationally and world-known ballet companies, art galleries, and several theater companies.

Ski Deals

Every weekend from early January until the end of March, the Colorado College ski bus offers students transportation to ski areas, snacks, and soft drinks for only $5 per person. The CC ski bus, sponsored by the Freeriders’ Union at Colorado College, takes students to Keystone, Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin, and occasionally Vail ski areas. Season passes are available starting at $250.

Visiting Colorado College

Looking at college viewbooks, talking to people, searching Web sites...all can provide you with some information, but there’s no substitute for actually being here. We invite you to come and experience first-hand what it might be like to be a student. While you are here, you might want to attend an information session, take a tour, attend a class, stay overnight in one of our residence halls, eat in the dining hall, and talk to some of the people who make up our community. You might also want to meet a coach, see a play, or just sit and admire our beautiful mountain view. All of these can help you answer the question: “Can I see myself here?”

When to Visit
The best time to visit is when classes are in session and there are plenty of students around to give you a true feel for the college. Block breaks and longer vacations are not the best time. The academic calendar on our Web site lists blocks and block breaks so you can plan a good time to visit.

What to Do
Throughout the year, CC offers group information sessions and tours. For seniors, we also offer opportunities to interview, attend a class, or stay overnight. We strongly encourage every prospective student and especially every admitted student to visit our campus. While we do our best to accommodate drop-in visitors for information sessions and tours, if you let us know you’re coming, we can better assure a complete and informative visit. For instance, we need advance notice of one week for class visits and two weeks for an overnight stay. For more information, or to schedule a visit, please e-mail or call:
