I graduated from Eaglecrest High School in Aurora in 2005. My major is History-Political Science, and I am pursuing minors in American Cultural Studies and Urban Studies. On campus, I currently serve as the Executive Vice President of the Student Government Association, the Co-President of the Black Student Union, and a leader of a social movement initiative called Sustained Dialogue. I have experienced a wealth of unparalleled opportunities throughout my tenure at CC. My first year, I had the unique opportunity to travel to the Mississippi Delta with professors to conduct interviews of local Civil Rights leaders, which consequently sparked my passion for History. I have been blessed to study off-campus six times: Francophone culture in Senegal; the Negritude Movement in Paris; Theatre in Toronto; Social Justice in Chicago; the Harlem Renaissance in New York; and Hispanic Literature and Culture in Chile. Engaging in first-hand experiential learning has truly prepared me for the globally-minded competitive environment I’m sure I will be confronted with after graduation.

Being an El Pomar Scholar has enabled me to pursue my passions, explore my purpose, and prepare for my future without the added anxiety of paying for this truly one-of-a-kind education.
