The Sophomore Jump Series is designed to help sophomore students learn more about themselves and then use this information to make good choices about an academic major and other opportunities.

  • Campus Activities Night

  • Welcome Back Hawaiian Luau BBQ
    Aloha CC Sophomores! Free food, music, and a Class of 2011 gift! Reunite with special guests and the Class of 2011 for a Hawaiian buffet dinner, live entertainment, water balloon sling shot, and plenty of other fun. Wednesday, September 10, 4pm, Armstrong Quad.   • Scholarship and Fellowship Forum
    You might think it is too early to think about graduate school, but our most successful applicants begin planning early. Take this opportunity to connect with the advisors of more than 20 graduate scholarships and fellowship programs such as Watson and Rhodes Scholarships.     Back by popular demand! Ever wonder what made a professor decide to be a professor? Wondering where your undergraduate degree will take you? Enjoy a three-course meal with faculty from various departments and hear about their background and experiences.   • International Opportunities Week- September 15-19

  • Study Abroad Fair
    Do you want to study/work/intern/volunteer/teach internationally? Find out about your plethora of options this week. Of all the opportunities the college offers, going abroad is one of the most unique and life-changing. In addition to the fair, organizations will present information throughout the week about many opportunities abroad. Watch for additional details.   • Sophomores Go Abroad: Student Panel
    Yes, you can go abroad your sophomore year! Hear from a panel of students about how to do it and the pros and cons of studying abroad during the 2nd rather than 3rd year. Join us for great food and great information about the study abroad application process. This session will get you moving toward the Spring Study Abroad Deadline of October 10.   • Volunteer Opportunity Fair
    One great way to become involved as a sophomore is to participate in one of the many volunteer options. The annual Volunteer Opportunity Fair provides students with information regarding service opportunities in the local Colorado Springs community. This is your chance to step outside of the CC bubble, make a positive change in the community, and learn something about yourself. Wednesday, September 17, 11:30-1pm, Worner Center.   • Homecoming and Parents Weekend
    Take advantage of the opportunity to network with CC alums and support the various CC athletics teams throughout the weekend.

    Sophomore year can be a bit stressful. But maybe that's not all bad! Dr. Amy Rothenberg is a licensed naturopathic physician, teacher, author, and parent of one of your fellow sophomores who will offer insight into the negative AND positive roles that stress can play in our lives.   • Personality, Career and Academic Major Exploration Workshop:Self Awareness
    Type Focus Personality Assessment and the Holland Self-Directed Search. Learn more about your personality and interests and how those match with possible careers and majors. You must complete the assessments before the date of the workshop. Visit the Career Center to pick up information.Thursday, November 1, 3:30pm, Worner 216.   • Sophomore Odyssey: Wilderness Exploration Trip
    Feeling in a funk? Or just interested in spending some quality time in the outdoors? Using the outdoors and its many metaphors, this block break trip is especially designed to engage sophomores in a discovery of their interests, values, and strengths. This trip may include any or all of the following: hiking, camping, backpacking, rafting, and who knows what else! But, absolutely no experience with the outdoors is necessary to have a raging time .Watch for emails on the 2011 list serv. Limited to the first 24 students. Wednesday, October 22-Sunday October 26th.

  • Internships Workshop
    Expand on your education and build marketable skills with real world experience. Learn how to find, develop, and land an internship over the winter break. Thursday, October 30, 4:00pm, Worner 213. Sponsored by the Career Center.

Join the Center for Service and Learning in celebrating their 20th anniversary by helping to perform a variety of services for one of the many non-profit organizations in Colorado Springs.
