| DIVERSITY FORUM HALF-BLOCK PROGRAM |
INTRODUCING A NEW CONCEPT IN EDUCATION AT CC DURING HALF BLOCK:
DIVERSITY FORUM:
DOES RACE STILL MATTER?
The Diversity Forum will occur during half block and will involve a set of three courses (students take one), three forums in which all the teachers and students participate, and sustained dialogue groups in which students and faculty can safely share their experiences and perspectives. There will also be joint social gatherings of all the students and faculty.
The Courses:
Popular Culture—Professor Mario Montano—Anthropology
Young, Female, and Black: African-American Women’s Coming of Age Narratives—Claire Garcia, English
Race and Identity in a Global Context—Alberto Hernandez-Lemus & John Riker—Philosophy
The Forums:
- America is changing: what happens when the majority becomes a minority?
- Are there unfair advantages for majority persons? Unfair advantages for minority persons? Let’s get what is hidden out in the air!
- After this year’s election, does race still matter?
To join the Forum, sign up for any one of the three courses.
For further information contact any of the four professors.
