The department hires two students to maintain the animal suite and provide proper care to the animals. Most frequently this position is given to a student through the college's work-study programs. Substitute keepers may be hired to cover break periods (winter, spring, summer breaks).
The department hires a graduating senior each year to serve as Psychology Paraprofessional, a one-year, full-time staff position. The "Paraprof" assists members of the department in teaching, experimental and administrative work. The period of employment is July 1st to June 30th.

Program Description: The NIH Postbac IRTA program (CRTA, Cancer Research Training Award, in the National Cancer Institute) provides recent college graduates who are planning to apply to graduate or professional (medical/dental/pharmacy) school an opportunity to spend one or two years performing full-time research at the NIH.
El Pomar Foundation, based in Colorado Springs, is one of the largest and oldest private foundations in the Rocky Mountain West. El Pomar contributes funding through direct grants and Community Stewardship Programs to support Colorado nonprofit organizations involved in health, human services, education, arts and humanities, and civic and community initiatives.
Among other programs, El Pomar offers a summer internship (students) and fellowship (graduates).
