Rehearsals: Collegium Musicum meets Monday afternoons in Packard room 9.
Collegium Musicum is Colorado College's "old music" ensemble, focusing on classical and dance music from the Renaissance and later. Collegium performs on instruments contemporary to the eras being studied, giving students the opportunity to learn recorders, frame drums, viols and more. The group performs many of its own arrangements, and students play a role in the process of re-creating music that, despite its great age, is not forgotten.
Nancy Ekberg is the director of the ensemble and does everything she can to incorporate a variety of media into performances, including poetry reading, dance and colloaboration with other members of the department, including the guitar ensemble and vocal performers.
Audition required to enroll, please contact Nancy Ekberg to arrange an audition. Members should be proficient at reading music.
