
English Department Prizes
Evelyn Bridges Poetry Contest
$600 in Prizes
First Prize $250; Second Prize $150; Third Prize $100
[1] Contestants must be Colorado College students, enrolled in the academic year in which the contest occurs. Poems may be of any form, versification (including free verse), genre (lyric, dramatic, narrative, etc.), and topic. Poems must be primarily in English, although brief use (words and phrases) of another language for aesthetic purposes is of course acceptable.
[2] Contestants may submit one to ten poems, as long as the total number of lines does not exceed five hundred. The awards will be made on the basis of the quality of all the poetry that each person submits.
[3] Poems should be typed or word-processed and placed in a 9x12 manila envelope with a pseudonym written on the outside and on the title pages of the poems. In an enclosed smaller envelope, include a slip of paper with the pseudonym, your real name, Worner box, and phone number.
[4] Please number the pages, use print dark enough to be legible, check spelling and punctuation. Leave a 1.5 inch margin at left and 1 inch margin at right, top and bottom.
[5] The deadline for submitting poems is the last Friday of Block 6 at 4:00pm. Submissions should be made to the English Office, Armstrong 245A.
[6] Winning poems may be printed in the Leviathan. Your entry in the contest implies your permission.

The Reville Prize for Short Fiction
$900 in Prizes
First Prize $400; Second Prize $300; Third Prize $200
[1] Any Colorado College undergraduate may participate. Only one story may be submitted by each student. Stories may be no longer than 10,000 words.
[2] Stories should be typed or word-processed and placed in a 9x12 manila envelope with a pseudonym written on the outside and on the title page. In an enclosed smaller envelope, include a slip of paper with the pseudonym, your real name, Worner box, and phone number. Please also include an approximate word count.
[3] Please number the pages, use print dark enough to be legible, check spelling and punctuation. Leave a 1.5 inch margin at left and 1 inch margin at right, top and bottom.

The Krutzke Award
$100 Prize
At the end of the academic year, the Senior Majors Committee selects the outstanding critical essay from among the projects written during the year in English Department Senior Seminars or Project blocks as the recipient of the Krutzke Award (in honor of the late Professor Frank Krutzke). The award includes a prize of $100.00.
