Capstone Integrated Project

Information for Students

The Capstone Integrated Project is a synthesis of concepts learned throughout the minor, through more in-depth research on a particular topic of interest and the application of the research. To fulfill the research project requirement, students will take ED451 Readings in Education and complete an Independent research project that meets the expected criteria for the capstone project (see capstone rubric). 

Required for all independent research projects

1. A short prospectus including:
a. A proposed research topic
b. Proposed research questions that will be the basis of the research
c. An indication of how the results of the research will be used in the applications essay section (see capstone rubric)  

This is to be submitted through e-mail by 9:00 A.M. on the first Monday of the capstone block. 

2. A revised (as needed) prospectus and a reflective essay including references to specific readings and experiences in courses taken in the minor that have led to the proposed topic (see capstone rubric) through e-mail by 9:00 A.M. on the first Thursday of the capstone block. 

3. A meeting with the capstone advisor before the end of the first Friday of the capstone block. 

4. A revised (as needed) reflective essay and an annotated bibliography (see capstone rubric) through e-mail by 9:00 A.M. on the second Thursday of the capstone block. 

5. A meeting with the capstone advisor on the second Friday of the capstone block.

6. A revised (as needed) annotated bibliography and an applications essay (see capstone rubric) through e-mail by 9:00 A.M. on the third Thursday of the capstone block.

7. A meeting with the capstone advisor on the third Friday of the capstone block.

8. A completed hard copy of the capstone project by 12:00 P.M. (noon) on the last Wednesday of the capstone block.
