Andrea Nixon - 1989

With her MA from George Washington University and her PhD from the University of Minnesota, Andrea is an educational researcher who works at  Carleton College.  She conducts educational research projects that are designed to examine the efficacy of curricular and research support available to students and faculty.  Research findings are used by members of the Carleton community to more closely align support mechanisms made available by the institution with a dynamic curriculum. 

James Biron - 1989

Jimi is the Director of Music Programming and Venue Development for McMenamins Inc. and enjoys bicycling, skiing, soccer, and the great outdoors of the Portland area. 

Noel Lenski - 1988

Noel received his MA and PhD from Princeton University and is now Associate Professor and Chair of Classics at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He has recently published a co-authored textbook: The Romans: From Village to Empire 2nd edition (Oxford University Press, 2011) together with M.T. Boatwright, D. Gargola and R. Talbert.

Todd Breyfogle - 1988

Since leaving Colorado College, Todd has earned multiple graduate degrees: BA, Ancient and Modern History, Corpus Christi College, Oxford; MA, Patristic and Modern Theology, Corpus Christi College, Oxford; MA, Committee on Social Thought, University of Chicago; PhD, Committee on Social Thought, University of Chicago. He is now employed as Director of Seminars at the Aspen Institute in Denver, CO. 

Mary Able - 1986

After working as a paralegal for 11 years, Mary now practices massage therapy, acupuncture, and Trager bodywork in Lakewood, CO. 

Jonathan Lake - 1985

Jonathan received his MBA from Arizona State University and his MIM (Masters in International Management) from Thunderbird--The American Graduate School of International Management.  He currently works as the Business Development Manager for Microsoft

Braxton Copley - 1985

Braxton received his JD at the University of Kansas in 1991 and now serves as an Assistant City Attorney in Topeka. 

Avivah Matranga Polmer - 1984

As a self-employed reading specialist and private tutor, Avivah is deeply involved in the Colorado Springs education community, especially as an advocate for children with learning disabilities. 

Margi Duran - 1983

Margi is a self-employed practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine, currently working toward her doctorate at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine

Joel Barstad - 1983

After earning an MA in Early Christian Studies from the Catholic University of America, Joel continued his graduate work with an MMS and PhD at the University of Notre Dame's Medieval Institute.  He is currently an Associate Professor of Theology at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver.

Elizabeth Bouis - 1982

Liz is a retired high school Latin teacher.

Gretchen Lockwood - 1982

Gretchen received her D.V.M from Colorado State University in 1986 and, after working as a veterinarian for 16 years, is now a bookseller at Books A Million in Exton, PA.  She enjoys writing fiction.

Sandy Gray Zemanek - 1981

Sandy has earned her Second Degree Black Belt in karate, and is the owner and operator of AKKA Karate USA in Los Lunas, New Mexico.  Outside of karate, she enjoys gardening, reading, and traveling.

Diane Rayor - 1980

Diane is a professor of Classics in the Classics Department that she helped start at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI.  She has published translations of ancient Greek poetry, including "Sappho's Lyre (1991) and "The Homeric Hymns" (2004). Cambridge University Press published her translation of Sophocles' Antigone, designed for the classroom and the stage, April 2011. Also with Cambridge U.P. is a new translation of Sappho's poetry and Euripides' Medea (in progress). Medea will be performed in Grand Rapids July 12-21, 2012. Diane was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from Colorado College on September 6, 2010. Her husband, David Hast (CC '79), is an English teacher at Jenison High School.  Their son, David, is majoring in math at the University of Michigan.
