A diverse cadre of contemporary spoken word artists, humorists, monologists, hip hop poets and playwrights will anchor Writing for Performance's discussions on performance writing as a “time art.” Students will execute a series of writing challenges based solely on time. Some of these challenges may include: Write a 1 minute play, a 5 minute opera, a 10 minute testimony, etc. Students will explore techniques used to establish and sustain tone and rhythm, while mining the specifics of our individual experiences. The course ultimately culminates with a live performance.
