BY442 – Biology of Disease Vectors

Biology of Disease Vectors is a comprehensive course that analyzes vectors (mosquitoes being a primary one) and how diseases come to be transmitted through important interactions.

In Biology of Disease Vectors students will focus on the biology of insect vectors and of the diseases they transmit. They will investigate the life cycles and important biological parameters of the main vectors of human disease. The class will explore vector competence and vectorial capacity, and learn about important interactions between vectors, hosts and pathogens. Finally, the course includes an overall review the most current literature on strategies in disease control.
