Eugene Linden, The Global Politics of Environmental Protection

EUGENE
LINDEN writes about science, technology and the environment for Time magazine and
has contributed to the Atlantic, The New York Times, Conde Nast Traveler,
The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Fortune, Inc., National
Geographic and Foreign Affairs. He is the recipient of numerous journalism
awards, including an Overseas Press Club Citation for Excellence, two Genesis Awards for
outstanding writing about animal issues and the American Geophysical Union Walter Sullivan
Award for Excellence in Science Journalism.
He recently published The Future in Plain Sight: Nine Clues to the Coming
Instability. His previous book was Silent Partners, which was cited as a
notable book of 1986 by The New York Times. In addition, he is the author of Affluence
and Discontent, The Alms Race and Apes, Men, and Language and is the
co-author of The Education of Koko. He has appeared on "Nightline,"
"Firing Line," "All Things Considered," "McNeill/Lehrer
NewsHour" and "Good Morning America." He lives in Nyack, New York.

Memorial Lecture on the Environment was established by the Linnemann family in honor
of Tim Linnemann, following his death in 1990. A biology major and member of the class of
1991, Tim was committed to the environment and to heightening the awareness of others
about environmental issues. The Harold D. and Rhonda N. Roberts Memorial Lecture in the
Natural Sciences was established by the Roberts family in memory of Harold Roberts
'08, a Denver attorney and water law expert and his wife, Rhoda Norton Haymes Harris '08,
a former president of the YMCA and the first woman president of the Denver Council of
Social Agencies.
