4 vs. 4 Grass Volleyball Tournament
Rules & Guidelines
1. Honor code reffing is expected for all games and matches during the tournament.
2. Open-handed serve reception and digs are permitted, "let" serves are permitted, no open-handed tips, all court players are considered front row players and may attack at all times, and blocking the serve is prohibited.
3. Round-robin pool play will determine the top two teams from each pool to advance to a single-elimination tournament.
4. Pool play will consist of two games, rally scored to 25. Tournament play will consist of best 2-out-of-3 games; first 2 games, rally scored to 25 and the 3rd game, rally scored to 15. No scoring cap - must win by 2 points.
Tie-breaking procedures for teams during POOL PLAY.
Two-way ties:
1. Match record
2. Head to head results
3. Point difference against each other
4. Point difference within the pool play vs. all teams
5. Coin toss
Three-way ties:
1. Match record
2. Head to head results
3. Game record
4. Point difference (plus/minus) to determine #1 team; 1 game playoff between the remaining two teams, rally scored to 15 points to determine #2.
Procedure for seeding teams that advance to SINGLE-ELIMINATION, BALANCED SEEDING TOURNAMENT of 6 TEAMS:
1. Match record
2. Game record
3. Point differential of total matches (plus/minus)
Procedure for seeding teams that advance to SINGLE-ELIMINATION, TOURNAMENT of 8 TEAMS:
1. Number one seed will receive top seed in each preliminary game against a second seed from a different pool.
