The Basics...

All basketball games are playing the the big and small gyms on the middle level of the El Pomar Sports Center. League play is organized in accordance with a round robin format with each team scheduled to play in an equal number of competitions. Final season rankings will be determined by 1) winning percentage, 2) head to head play, 3) number of forfeits, and/or 4) playoff game. The top teams in each league will advance to a single elimination tournament to determine league champions. All members of the winning team will receive IM Champion t-shirts.

General organizational rules include the following: The playing field consists of five vs. five. The game consists of two 20-minute halves with a five minute half time. The clock will remain running until the final two minutes of the second half. During these last two minutes, the clock will stop on all dead balls. If there is a tie after the completion of regulation play, a 5 minute overtime will be played. The clock will run the entire time except for stop-time during the last one minute of overtime.

General playing rules include the following: Each team will be allowed 2 time-outs per half. Time outs not used in the first half do not carry over to the second half. An additional time out will be granted to each team for each overtime period played. They will not carry over to subsequent overtimes, however. Each person is allowed 5 fouls before disqualification. Seven team fouls will result in a bonus shooting opportunity for the opposing team; the 10th foul will result in an automatic two shot opportunity (double bonus). The big gym has a three-point line which will be in effect for all games. All Basketball rules may be found in the IM Rules folder.

Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. The following behaviors will result in a warning and the possibility of a game ejection and subsequent expulsion: cursing at the officials, supervisors, or opposing players; insulting the officials, supervisors, or opposing players. Participating in a fight and/or intentional/flagrant fouls will result in an automatic ejection. Participants ejected from a game are prohibited in playing in their next TWO scheduled games.
