Colorado College Honnen Arena

Intermediate and Novice Hockey Leagues

Code of Conduct

The Honnen Arena’s Intermediate and Novice Leagues attempts to instill and practice the values of good sportsmanship in all players. The safety of each and every player is our prime concern. We have established conduct guidelines and will strongly encourage all league players to follow the guidelines.

All Players Are Strongly Encouraged To:

· Be courteous to opposing teams and the league officials

· Play hard and to the limit of his/her ability

· Retain his/her composure and never engage in unsportsmanlike physical or verbal behavior

· Be modest when successful and gracious in defeat

· Play for the love of the game and remember, it is just a game

· Respect the integrity and judgment of league officials and accept their decisions

· Respect other players, the facilities, the officials, but most importantly, respect yourself

· Applaud superior play by both teams

To Motivate Players to Follow Our Code of Conduct, The League will:

· Immediately tack on extra penalty minutes for players that are called for a penalty and are disrespectful to other players or league officials for calling the penalty. A two minute penalty will be added to the original penalty. If an outburst continues after the extra penalty has been added, the player will be invited to leave the game.

· Fighting will not be tolerated. The players involved in a fight will be immediately ejected from the game and from the league.

· We consider the game of hockey to consist of skating, passing, and stick handling. You will notice that checking is not included in our game of hockey. If a player is found to be elbowing, giving shoulders and making a general nuisance of him/herself during play, they will be warned of their unacceptable play. If they continue with such play, the individual will be invited to join another league somewhere else.
