CONTEMPORARY FRENCH STUDIES

Professor Mecchia, Advisor; Professor Ricciardi, Secondary Advisor

An overview of modern France through the study of language, literature, philosophy, history, politics, and the arts.

Five or six units minimum.

This minor may be satisfied by students taking four units in the Perpignan Program, plus the Integrative Experience.

Alternatively: Students may fulfill this minor on campus in the following manner.

Category One: Students must take this course or demonstrate the equivalent proficiency: FR 201:Intermediate French (2 units)

Category Two: Students who take FR 201 must choose one unit from the following:

Students who are not obliged to take FR 201 must choose two units from the following:

FR 305, 306, 308, 309, 320, 416, 417, 418, 419, 421, 423, 424.

Category Three: All students must choose two units from the following:

HY 280, 288, 344, AH 243, 342, PH 344, PS 301.

The Integrative Experience: A paper which integrates many aspects of the subject. To be done in connection with the last course taken in the minor.
