| DANCE FESTIVAL | |
The Extraordinary Dance Festival was held from June 30 to July 18, 2008 in Colorado Springs on the Colorado College Campus. Our mission is to support dance education and performance by fostering a creative environment where all dancers, including students and members of the community, can come together to cultivate and discover the intrinsic value of the many facets of dance. We do this by providing a variety of training in diverse forms across the discipline of dance. The festival, directed by Patrizia Herminjard, will again bring exceptional student dancers from Taiwan to study alongside our domestic students, who will be taught by our world-renowned faculty. Full-time registrants will participate daily in six hours of technique work with an emphasis on modern dance. Other featured techniques include ballet, yoga/acrobalance, hip-hop, jazz, and Repertory. Weekly "Informances" will provide students with the opportunity to experience and analyze professional work in a constructive atmosphere. Open rehearsal space is available in the evenings for festival participants who would like to choreograph their own work, which will be showcased in the final week of the Festival.
