| "The thing i loved most about the festival was being able to discover just how universal a language dance is. Doing contact improv with people who didn't speak any English could have posed a problem, but because we all understood the idea of dance, we were able to communicate on a level that extended far beyond words. It was a really enlightening experience! In addition, there really isn't anything like being able to focus solely on dance for 3 weeks straight. It was like living in a fantasty world for a few weeks!" -Amy Rubin, participant 2008 Since 2001, the Extraordinary Dance Festival has been a part of the Summer Festival of the Arts at Colorado College. The three-week intensive program includes a full day of classes on technique, yoga, creating performance, repertory, and a variety of workshops in nontraditional dance forms. Evening activities include INFORMANCE lecture/performances, movies, and open rehearsal space for student choreographers.
