Introduction to Hand Printing Explore the basics of hand typesetting and letterpress printing using a Vandercook Proof Press. The workshop will include type composition, paper selection, mixing ink, press set-up, and printing. Participants will design and produce a small project of their own such as a business card, greeting or post card. A demonstration of how to print with photopolymer plates will be conducted, with a special focus on printing in other languages. We will also consider the ways that letterpress printing can add texture, words, and a new dimension to art and book arts projects. All experience levels welcome. | |
