Gender-Neutral housing is an environment where student housing is not restricted
to traditional limitations of the gender binary. This program is ideal for
students whose gender identification and/or gender expression varies from
the standard paradigm and for students who believe that their gender should
not factor into the decision of whom to live with. Students may choose a
roommate of any gender, and will not be asked by the Department of Residential
Life to identify their own gender during the selection process. Students
who do not have a roommate will be assigned a roommate without the consideration
of gender. The program is open to any students who are committed to the purpose
of the gender-neutral program and feel it meets their own needs. Each resident
who lives in the program must agree to the Gender-Neutral Housing Agreement
and will have responsibility to develop and uphold the standards for the
community which are in congruence with the core value of valuing all persons
and seeking to learn from their diverse experiences and perspectives.
