Friendship
Involvement in a Greek organization gives members the opportunity to expand their circle of friends. Greek Life combines the concept of individualism within the framework of mutual cooperation. One of the most cherished aspects of being invilved in a Greek organization are the friendships made through membership. By choosing to become a member of a Greek organization, you will meet people who will become your closest friends...the kind of friends that will support you through thick and thin. Lifelong friendships and associations are made through active participation in a Greek organization. As a Greek member, you will form friendships unlike any found in other organizations.
Community Service
Helping others is a common thread that links all Greek organizations. Colorado College Greeks perform countless hours of service to various organizations and charitable projects. Each sorority and fraternity has its own philanthropy, which it supports throughout the year. These various activities offer college students special opportunities to make a positive difference in the lives of others. The CC Greek system is committed to helping you identify ways to contribute your own time and energy through community service and philanthropy.
Scholarship
Obviously, academics are the focus for life at Colorado College, and Greek students recognize that the purpose of attending school is to receive a higher education. The sororities and fraternities have set high standards of scholastic achievement to reflect this emphasis. Each Greek chapter at CC has set their own scholarship standards, and minimum GPA is often required to pledge or become an initiated member.
In order to accomplish these academic standards, many different programs have been instituted. Upperclassmen may assist new members in developing sound study habits. Members set weekly study dates. Individual help is often given upon request for Greek members who struggle with a particular subject. Incentive programs are also in place to reward those Greek members worthy of mention in the scholastic realm.
Social
Of course there is the social side to Greek Life a Colorado College! A member's social life is enhanced through involvement with a fraternity or sorority. Greek organizations have traditionally provided most of the social excitement at CC. Swaps, progressive dinners, and other activities provide an opportunity for members to become acquanted with a variety of new people on campus. Events range from theme parties to formals, where excitement is guaranteed!
Paries are not the only way Greeks have fun. There are a infinite number of events in which members participate. Homecoming events, Greek Week, intramural sports competitions, and philanthropy events are just a few of the popular ways which fraternity and sorority members participate with each other and the campus community. Being part of a Greek organization at Colorado College never leaves time for boredom!
