COLORADO SPRINGS -- Five Colorado College juniors have received awards up to $3,500 to undertake literary projects this summer and next year.

The 2002 Colorado College Awards in Literature go to Katie Borman, Zachary David, Nicole Pasini, Quana Rochelle, and Lisa Wolfe.

All English majors, Borman, from McLean, Va., will write a documentary screenplay about college students and privilege; David, a native of New Hartford, Conn., will organize creative writing workshops in Michigan prisons; Pasini, from Tempe, Ariz., will produce a collection of poetry as she travels across the United States; and Wolfe, who calls Manitou Springs, Colo., home, will write an autobiographical narrative. President of the Class of 2003, Rochelle, a psychology major from Columbia, Mo., will conduct scholarly research on spirituality in African-American life.

The CC Awards in Literature were established in 1981 by an anonymous donor who is a Colorado College graduate. This year’s selection committee members were George Butte (chair), James Yaffe and Barry Sarchett (English), Mike Siddoway (mathematics), and students Brynne Anderson, Kirk Mortensen (English majors) and Eron McLaughlin (recent psychology graduate).
