THE PUBLIC INTEREST FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM (PIFP) mission is to provide opportunities for Colorado College students and recent graduates to pursue meaningful work with public interest nonprofits that are pursuing systemic solutions to society’s challenges and issues.
Founded during the 2003-2004 academic year, PIFP is modeled on the public interest program of Princeton University’s Project 55.
PIFP seeks to develop long-term partnerships with public interest nonprofits, encouraging participation from organizations that:
- address a significant social issue
- focus on systemic as opposed to symptomatic change
- are innovative and effective
- are able to provide a Fellow with meaningful projects and learning opportunities.
PIFP recognizes that not all nonprofits are systemic change organizations, but could still offer our Fellows valuable experiences in the nonprofit sector. These organizations might include:
- foundations
- government agencies
- churches
PIFP oversight is conducted by an advisory board of alumni, faculty and campus staff. Alumni are encouraged to participate as mentors to Fellows, nonprofit liaisons, or financial supporters. |
