Petitioning for a Non-Approved Program

Students whose needs are not met by the existing study abroad affiliated or approved programs may petition to participate in an alternate program. All students considering petitioning must first meet with the Coordinator of Off-Campus Study for important information about the process. Petitions from students who have not met with the Coordinator will not be considered. The petition is due, along with the regular Colorado College application, on October 10 for programs that begin in the spring and on February 10 for programs that begin in the fall.

Because the petition application is lengthy, it is important you meet with the Coordinator of Off-Campus Study early in the process. During this meeting, you will be given the petition application.

A group of faculty, the Coordinator of Off-Campus Study and the Director of International Programs, reviews all petition applications. You will receive a letter notifying you whether or not your petition has been approved no less than four weeks after the application due date.

Students who intend to apply for a domestic non-approved program must see the Associate Dean of the College.
